Administered by the North Karelia Chamber of Commerce and funded by the European Social Fund, the KNOT project aims to promote cooperation between the University of Eastern Finland and companies in the Joensuu and North Karelia region. The project brings together the internship needs of international students and the internationalisation strategies of the region’s companies. RequirementsAt the University of Eastern Finland, the faculties administer the completion of international internships within their Master’s degree programmes. Requirements for the internship for Master’s degree students: applicable tasks, demands level, implementation of supervision, and duration of internship; these are defined in the curricula of the university’s Master’s degree programmes. It is also possible for exchange students to complete an internship within the KNOT project, if the internship can be fitted in their schedule and it can be included in their degree at the home university. If you are an exchange student, you need to find out about the requirements of your home university for the internship in order for it to be included in your degree. What kinds of tasks?The internships of international students at Finnish companies can involve background research relating to the legislation of the destination country (the student’s home country), competitor, customer and market analyses, and societal research (investigating attitudes, language areas), etc.
