Studies | Admission to Master's Degree Programmes
A list of Master's Degree Programmes offered is available here. Admission and language requirementsAdmission requirements vary depending on the Master's Degree Programme but a previous Bachelor's degree in a related field is required from all applicants. All applicants must have good skills in English. For more detailed information on specific language requirements, please visit the websites of each Master's Degree Programme. Most of the programmes require that the applicants have passing scores in an internationally recognised language proficiency test. Please also note that Finnish language courses are offered only for those students who are already accepted to one of the Master’s Degree Programmes at the University of Eastern Finland. Therefore, it is not possible to just study Finnish in our institution. how to applyAll applications, apart from those to Erasmus Mundus programmes, are to be submitted through University Admissions Finland (UAF). Applicants register and create a user account in the system. This can be done all year round even if there is no ongoing application period. When the application period begins, applicants continue the process by filling out an application template which in the end will be compiled into a pdf document. It should be printed and signed and then sent, together with the required enclosures, to University Admissions Finland by mail. Instructions in a nutshell
University Admissions Finland
Verification of educational certificates University Admissions Finland will evaluate the eligibility and authenticity of the educational certificates of all applicants. This includes e.g. contacting the previous educational institutions and language test providers. Any malpractice will be reported to the universities and proper authorities. Language tests Applicants should check the language skill requirements of the programme they intend to apply to. They are available on the programme websites. It is up to the applicants to take the test in time. It should be noted that it may take several weeks before the test results are available. All language test results myst arrive at University Admissions Finland by the application deadline. The institutional TOEFL code of University Admissions Finland is 3138. The TOEFL test score must arrive directly from the test organiser. Score slips or their copies provided by applicants are not accpeted. In case of an IELTS test, the applicant should indicate in section 23 of the IELTS registration form that University Admissions Finland is allowed to verify the score electronically. The testing centre will then make the IELTS score available to UAF. For CAE and CPE, test results should be addressed to University Admissions Finland. Test scores sent by applicants are acceptable as well, as long as they can be verified by the test organiser. Candidate's ID and secret code should be included. Tuition fees and living costs At the moment there are no tuition fees at the University of Eastern Finland, but the student must be able to cover all his/her own living costs in Finland (minimum of 500 euros per month for a single student). Own finances are also one of the requirements for the Finnish residence permit, and finances need to be available permanently on your bank account for the whole period the permit is applied for. Financing your stay and studies in Finland by working is not possible. The University of Eastern Finland is not offering any financial aid for students, although some programmes may offer scholarships.
