Risto Järv studies seto narrative heritage and focuses on problems how the topic of seto border and problems related to the border is handled in contemporary folk narratives. The aim of the study is also to explain how this topic has cut into the thematically-oriented fieldwork during the past years; these expeditions have aimed at collecting folktales, yet most interviews also include the topic on the Setos' relations with their neighbours and issues related to the border, often introduced on the initiative of the informants themselves. A more thorough treatment will be given to the representations of the problems of the border and inhabitants of the border regions in the narratives belonging to different genres that were collected in the course of the fieldworks. Järv also studies ethnic stereotyping emerging from the interviews.
