Introduction

Itä-Suomen yliopiston oikeustieteen laitos yhteistyössä Alicanten yliopiston kanssa järjestää kansainvälisen konferenssin, Espanjalais-suomalaisen oikeusteorian seminaarin Itä-Suomen yliopiston tiloissa Joensuussa 30.-2.7.2016. Seminaari on englanninkielinen, osallistumisohjeet ja muu ohjeistus on annettu englanniksi.

The Law School of the University of Eastern Finland in cooperation with the University of Alicante arranges the VI Spanish-Finnish seminar in legal theory as an international conference in Joensuu, in Finland, on 30th June - 2nd July, 2016.

The theme of the seminar is "Present and Future of Legal Philosophy".

All professors, scholars, researchers, lecturers and students in the area of legal theory and legal philosophy are welcome to the seminar. They are welcome to register themselves as participants for the seminar and to propose a paper for a seminar lecture. The seminar is free, and the conference language of the seminar is English. The registration is open until to 12th June, 2016.

The seminar

Registered participants of the seminar can propose a paper and a lecture for the seminar by sending an abstract of the paper until to 31st March, 2016. Please, find instructions for the abstract below.

The approved papers for lectures will be announced to the authors of the papers (the lecturers) by e-mail until to 11th April, 2016. The authors of the approved papers and lecturers are requested to send the final papers to the organizers until to 12th June, 2016. Please, send a paper with no more than 10.000 words.

The seminar papers as the groundworks for the lectures and the final program of the seminar will be provided on this web site until to 20th June, 2016. Participants can download the papers with the help of the web site. There will be no printed papers available during the seminar.

The conference venue is the Aurora building of the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu. The street address is: Door B, Yliopistonkatu 2. Please, find the map of the town center area of Joensuu below.

Instructions for the abstract

A registered participant of the seminar can propose a paper and a lecture by sending an abstract of the paper to the organizers until to 31st March, 2016. An abstract and a paper can have one or several authors. Accordingly, a lecture can be given by one or several persons.

Please, write and send an abstract as a PDF-document with no more than 500 words. Equip the text of the document with your name and title and your university, faculty, school or other department or other institution as well as the country you are coming from. In addition, write the heading of the abstract and the proposed paper. Attach the document to an e-mail message with the title "Spanish-Finnish Seminar in Legal Theory Abstract". Participants from Spain and Italy, please, send your abstracts to the following e-mail address: Isabel.lifante@ua.es. Participants from Finland and all other countries, please, send your abstracts to the following address: niko.soininen@uef.fi.

Travelling information

Joensuu lies in the eastern Finland, in Northern Karelia. The distance from Helsinki, the capital city of Finland, is about 450 kilometres (along the highway E75 or 6). The most practical way to travel to Joensuu from abroad is to fly to Helsinki and take a transfer flight to Joensuu. The flight from Helsinki to Joensuu takes less than an hour. The distance between Joensuu airport and Joensuu town centre is 11 kilometres. You can travel from the airport to the town centre (and hotels) by a taxi of by a bus (Savo-Karjalan linja Oy).

You can travel from Helsinki to Joensuu by train. Travelling by train from Helsinki city centre to Joensuu railway station by an express train takes about four and half hours. In addition, you can travel by train straight from Helsinki airport train station to Joensuu, first by a commuter train and after that by an express train (transfer in Tikkurila). Railway station lies in the eastern side of the Joensuu town centre. The distance between the railway station and the town centre (and hotels) is about 600-800 metres, and the distance between the railway station and the conference venue is 1,5 km. You can travel from the railway station to the town centre by a taxi or by a local bus.

Accommodation information

There are three hotels in Joensuu town centre area providing agreed conference prices to the participants of the seminar. The hotels are:

Hotel Original Sokos Vaakuna Joensuu. Distance to the conference venue: 900 meters. Prices: 95 euros/a night for a room for one person and 115 euros/a night for a room for two persons (breakfast included). The conference code is "BUEF". Hotel Cumulus Joensuu. Distance to the conference venue: 700 meters. The agreed conference prices are: 88 euros/a night for a room for one person and 99 euros/a night for a room for two persons (breakfast included). The conference code is "ESOS 2016".
