2003 | Dr. Klaus Töpfer, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Dr. Perttu Vartiainen, Rector of the University of Eastern Finland sign an agreement of cooperation designating the former University of Joensuu a UNEP Partner University. |
