Research

The research of the School of Pharmacy covers nearly the entire drug development chain from target to clinical efficacy.

The strategic research areas of the School are:

  • Drug development
  • Drug-like properties of drug substances (ADMET research)
  • New drug formulations and process analysis techniques (PAT)
  • Evaluation of efficacy of drug treatment

The research and further development of high-class analytical procedures is a research area, which supports the development of the above areas.  Measurements of concentrations and analysis of structure of drug substances, their metabolites and endogenous compounds are essential parts of almost all of the research projects being carried out in the School.
There are also research areas, which have high importance for the society. These are:

  • Geriatric drug therapy
  • Pediatric medication
  • Impacts of political decision making concerning medicines
  • Toxicological research on mechanisms involved in toxicity and toxicokinetics

The School has extensive collaboration with drug companies. This collaboration is operated through the Drug Research and Development Centre (DRDC).
