Application for postgraduate studies

 Planning PhD Studies

A student who is interested in pursuing post-graduate studies in the School of Pharmacy should first contact the coordinator of the discipline and/ or a research group leader and discuss with him/her about the applicant’s academic  background, the research plan, and future theoretical studies. Letters of recommendation from earlier teachers and instructors of the applicant are appreciated.  If the coordinator supports the application, and he/she is preliminarily accepted by a leader of a research group, one or more research supervisors are appointed for the applicant. According to the University regulations, at least one of them must be a professor or docent (adjunct professor) at the University of Eastern Finland.

If the applicant, the coordinator of the discipline and the intented supervisers come to agreement about the research plan, the applicant may send an application to the School.

In the application form the student should state the postgraduate degree he/she wishes to be registered for, the field of research and the names of the professors at the University of Eastern Finland the student has contacted. The applicant should enclose a certificate of previous basic degree (Master's degree or equivalent) and other documents that may be relevant in the admission procedure as well as (preliminary) research plan. The application form must be signed by the applicant, the intented supervisors and the coordinator of the discipline in question before it is sent to the School.
