An International Study Programme in Environmental Science and Forestry - University of Eastern Finland

Description of available courses during 2012-2013 (pdf)

An International Study Programme in Environmental Science and Forestry is a one-year, nondegree programme designed to provide a firm grounding in different aspects of ecology and forestry. The programme offers lectures, laboratory work, field exercises, and seminars. The programme is jointly managed by the School of Forest Sciences and Department of Biology. It is designed to promote intellectual and cultural interaction between the university community and visiting scholars and students. Students are invited to participate in the programme for up to a year to expand their international knowledge and experience.

From the start of the programme in 1991, over 800 international students have studied on a full-time basis in the International Study Programme in Environmental Science and Forestry. In a typical year we have about 55 students from a dozen countries. Over the years the students have come from 37 different countries.

The Environmental Science and Forestry programme is intended for exchange students coming from partner universities, but also visiting students from other accredited universities will be considered. Only a very limited number of visiting students can be accepted and preference is given to students from countries and universities with which we have had earlier cooperation. Visiting students are required to have completed a minimum two years of studies in the home university. As with exchange students, applications must come directly from the home university with the approval of the administration.
