Equal Opportunities Committee 

The tasks of the Equal Opportunities Committee are:

  • to promote the achievement of the objectives of the Act on Equality between Women and Men, and to promote the implementation of the measures required by the Non-Discrimination Act;
  • to ensure that the university at all times has an effective and appropriate gender equality and equal opportunities programme;
  • to monitor the realisation of the gender equality and equal opportunities programme;
  • to promote the development of an opinion environment that is open-minded towards gender equality and equal opportunities at the university;
  • to prepare reports addressing the realisation of gender equality and equal opportunities at the University of Eastern Finland;
  • to disseminate information relating to gender equality and equal opportunities and to provide support for staff members' and students' comments relating to the matter;
  • to develop cooperation relating to gender equality and equal opportunities with other institutions of higher education;
  • to address discovered problems relating to gender equality and equal opportunities at the university.

The Equal Opportunities Committee seeks to help members of staff and students in matters relating to gender equality and equal opportunities by preparing reports, issuing statements and making initiatives in the field.
