J.V. Snellman Home Museum
Johan Vilhelm Snellman (1806-81), a Finnish philosopher and promoter of cultured society, lived and worked in Kuopio from 1843 to 1849. The museum depicts the family life and work of  J.V. Snellman during his Kuopio years.

Kuopio Art Museum
The collections of the Art Museum total around 5,000 works, mainly of Finnish art from the 19th century to the present day. There are also temporary exhibitions.

Kuopio Car Museum
The museum, founded in 2002 by the local automobile enthusiasts, displays beautiful old cars, as well as old bicycles, motorbikes and accessories. The oldest car on display dates from 1909. Café Mobiili.

Kuopio Museum
The Art Nouveau style building of the Kuopio Museum in fact houses two separate museums: the Museum of Cultural History and the Museum of Natural History

The Old Kuopio Museum
An old-time block of wooden buildings in the centre of Kuopio.

The Orthodox Church Museum of Finland
The museum houses one of the most beautiful icon collections in the western world, precious gold and silver objects, and lavishly embroidered church textiles. The artefacts saved from Karelian monasteries left on Russian territory after WW II testify to the rich cultural heritage of the Orthodox Church.

The museum is closed for the reform of the permanent exhibition. Renovation has delayed and because of that the museum will be open at the earliest in summer 2014.

VB Photographic Centre
Housed in the former home and studio of the photographer Victor Barsokevitsch (1863-1933) in the centre of Kuopio. Art, documentary and utility photography, as well as Barsokevitsch´s photos.

PUIJO
Puijo hill is the famous landmark of Kuopio, and the ridge of Puijo is among the most popular recreation areas of the city. The hill is 150 metres high, has an observation tower on its peak and is situated close to the city centre of Kuopio. Tel. +358 17 255 5250, www.puijo.com

Sightseeing
You can go sightseeing in the city of Kuopio by various means of transportation. A tour in an old-time horse cab or on a street train is a leisurely way of enjoying a summer day. A street trains makes non-stop tours to the passenger harbour.

Alahovi Berry Farm
At the Alahovi Berry Farm, situated close to Kuopio, you can watch how berry wines are made, sample the wines, have a meal, and browse in the farm's wine shop. Market Hall
The Market Hall has been selling local and imported products since 1902. The Art Nouveau style Market Hall building is one of the most precious buildings in Kuopio, and inside there are around 30 stalls.

Marketplace
The Marketplace is the indisputable hub of Kuopio in summer, where you can experience the traditional local atmosphere at its best. It is also an excellent place for shopping, with stalls offering a variety of fresh farm produce, beautiful handicrafts, and of course 'kalakukko' fish pies, the mouth-watering local speciality.

Pikku-Pietari Market Alley
Close to the Marketplace is the idyllic Pikku-Pietari Market Alley, lined by old stables. In the atmospheric log buildings of the alley you will find a cafe with a terrace, art exhibitions and small boutiques.

Cruises
Take the opportunity to admire the beauty of Lake Kallavesi in Kuopio. Boats greeting each other with cheerful toots in the harbour and on the open lakes create a merry summer atmosphere. During the high season, over 20 cruises depart from the Passenger Harbour. Cruises from Kuopio.
