Material research

The Department of Applied physics is specialized in characterizing various materials and thus it has state-of-the-art equipment scattered around various research groups and locations.

The manufacturing equipment for thin films and coatings include USPLD (Ultra Short Pulsed Laser Deposition) and sputtering techniques. The characterization techniques include XRPD (X-Ray Powder Diffraction), DSC (Differenctial Scanning Calorimetry), Battery cycling system (BCS), TGA (Thermogravimeric Analysis), Pore size, volume and surface area analysing with gas adsorption/desorption, particle size and surface potential analyser, air-coupled ultrasound (ACU), electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), ultra-wideband (UWB) radar and acoustic emission (AE) and their combinations.
