Publishing services
The library maintains UEF eRepository (eRepo) service that records and publishes theses and serials published by the University of Eastern Finland. eRepo contain also self-archived articles and metadata of research data. Our publication archive enables us to store publications permanently. We provide all publications of the University of Eastern Finland with the required identification numbers numbers (ISBN, ISSN).
We offer university researchers an self-archiving service that includes checking publishing rights from the original publisher before self-archiving.
The library also provides general instructions and guidance on publishing printed and electronic material, as well as on open access publishing. We also provide guidance on creating researcher identifiers (e.g. ORCID).
We record University of Eastern Finland publication data in the UEF CRIS Current Research Information System and participate in the annual Ministry of Education and Culture data collection for publications. We provide guidance to University of Eastern Finland staff, researchers, and students on selecting publishing channels, Open Access agreements, applying for the university’s support for article publishing charges, publication metadata and formats as well as copyright matters.

Affiliation refers to a connection with an organisation to which the author belongs at the time of producing the work, or on whose behalf, or using whose resources, the research, teaching or other academic work has been produced.
An author may have several affiliations. Correctly stated affiliations make it easier to link a publication to the correct unit when collecting publication data. Furthermore, this improves the evaluation and statistical analysis of research activity based on scientific publications when data is extracted from citation databases.
The University of Eastern Finland must always be listed as the affiliation when a publication is based on research or expert work carried out by the author at the University of Eastern Finland. Researchers must ensure that their affiliation is clearly stated in accordance with the principles of research ethics, including in various rankings (e.g. Highly Cited Researcher).
The University of Eastern Finland may only be listed as an affiliation if the author has an employment or other contractual relationship (e.g. emerita/emeritus) with the university, or if the university has otherwise (through resources or a working environment) enabled the production of the work.
Neither the title of docent nor undergraduate students may use the University of Eastern Finland’s affiliation unless they have another contractual relationship with the university.
The University of Eastern Finland’s affiliation may not be used in connection with outputs that are not related to the author’s research work or expert duties at the university.
In addition to the criteria mentioned above, researchers must take into account the need to update their affiliations when they change research organisations. Publications are attributed to the organisation where the research or expert work related to the publication was primarily carried out, even if the author had moved to another organisation before the publication appeared.
If the research output is based on both a unit of the University of Eastern Finland (e.g. the Department of Medicine) and an organisation other than the University of Eastern Finland (e.g. the Wellbeing services county of North Savo (PSHVA) or Kuopio University Hospital (KUH)), please indicate the affiliations of both organisations in the output.
When utilising open access (OA) agreements, the order of the corresponding author’s affiliations is significant. A prerequisite for utilising these agreements is that the research and expert work related to the publication has been carried out primarily under the affiliation of the University of Eastern Finland and/or Kuopio University Hospital (KUH) (the ‘wellbeing county’ alone cannot be listed as an affiliation).
The university’s established, full name should always be used rather than abbreviated forms.
When you state your affiliation, it must clearly show your name, university, department, campus town and country. The order may vary depending on the discipline.
