The 2nd Annual IIES Scientific Workshop will be held at the University of Eastern Finland, Tietoteknia building (nr. 13 on the map), which is situated on University campus amidst Kuopio Science Park. Approximately 400 km northeast of the capital Helsinki, the city of Kuopio enjoys excellent air-, bus- and rail links with Helsinki, which is itself within easy reach from all over the world. There are about 5 daily flights and flight time Helsinki - Kuopio takes only 45 minutes. All trains offer modern travel comforts and traveltime from Helsinki on fast trains is appr. 4 hours.
The University of Eastern Finland is a multidisciplinary university, which offers teaching in more than 100 major subjects. We are one of the largest universities in Finland, and home to approximately 15,000 students and 2,800 members of staff. Our key interdisciplinary research areas are built around four global challenges. These challenges are Ageing, lifestyles and health; Learning in a digitised society; Cultural encounters, mobilities and borders; and Environmental change and sufficiency of natural resources.
