Jarmo Holopainen, PhD, professor

I am a Professor of Applied Ecology and the head of the Environmental Ecology
Research Group at the Department of Environmental Biological Sciences at UEF.

Research

Our research is focused on global change biology, environmental biology as well as interactions between plants and herbivores. We are also investigating plant biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC) and their emissions under influence of abiotic and biotic environmental factors. In cooperation with the environmental physicists we investigate the impact of BVOC emissions of forest trees on the atmospheric formation of secondary aerosols.
