At the University of Eastern Finland, there is no special education programme in the forest-based bioeconomy. However, the bioeconomy is included as a subject in many programmes. In addition, the planning of a basic course in the forest-based bioecomony is currently under way. The course will be voluntary and open to all students irrespective of their field of study. Furher in the future, the aim is that we offer recognised training addressing the bioeconomy at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral levels, and – as the significance of the bioeconomy continues to grow – we provide students with diverse skills to work in different branches both in Finland and abroad.
