JACARDI is a joint action of 21 countries with 76 partners and more than 300 public health experts funded by the European Commission. It aims to alleviate the burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and diabetes mellitus (DM) and related risk factors at individual and societal levels by addressing social inequalities; increasing awareness of the diseases; improving quality and accessibility of standardized reliable information across the patient journey for evidence-based health policy; implementing effective primary prevention and identification of high-risk population; implementing innovative care models with the support of patient  self-management; and supporting labour participation in European Union countries.

The University of Eastern Finland is contributing to the WP5, WP7, and WP9 by improving availability, quality, accessibility, and use of data on CVD and DM of the JACARDI project. It is responsible for identifying the available sources and registers and gaps of international and national data on CVD and DM in the EU countries. It will also take the part of formulating the characteristics of data for value-based health/health care analyses and benchmarking the collection, integration, and use of CVD and DM data and registers for evidence-based policy.
