Molecular medicine

Molecular medicine studies the causes and mechanisms of diseases at the molecular level and applies the gained knowledge in prevention, diagnostics and treatment of diseases, thus combining research areas from basic to clinical research.

Centre of Excellence in Research Cardiovascular Diseases and Type 2 Diabetes has an active role in the activities of the Doctoral Program.

The Program also gains benefit from several European Research Networks of Excellence where the participating groups are actively involved. In addition in 2007-2009, A. I. Virtanen Institute was awarded as a Center of Excellence in Teaching by FINHEEC.
