DPMM | Doctoral Program in Molecular Medicine (DPMM)The Doctoral Program in Molecular Medicine combines systematic doctoral training and research expertise in molecular medicine at the A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences and the School of Medicine in the University of Eastern Finland. Doctoral students work as active researchers in the participating research groups. OperationAltogether, the Program houses approximately 120 doctoral students (26 financed by the Ministry of Education) enrolled in the 4-year PhD/DMedSci -program, and more than 60 committed, personal thesis supervisors. Postgraduate studies are carefully planned for each student in a way which best supports the individual training goals. The curriculum of the Program includes general postgraduate courses as well as discipline-specific studies. In addition, the Program organizes several international seminar series and symposiums. Internationality is an essential part of the doctoral training. All postgraduate courses of the Program are international, and students are encouraged to do part of their thesis work in foreign laboratories. In addition, the doctoral students benefit from the courses and researcher mobility of
where the participating research groups are actively involved. The Doctoral Program in Molecular Medicine has also active collaboration with several biotechnology companies. |
