CBU MSc programme in Forestry and Environmental Engineering consists of studies comprising 120 ECTS following CBU curriculum. It takes two years to complete the degree. Each student has a home university where he/she graduates when the studies are completed (exception: in the double degree option, the students will receive a degree certificate from UEF and from SPSFTU).
The courses are divided into compulsory courses (CBU compulsory courses and courses at home university), elective courses, applied period and the Master’s thesis.
Cross-border element
The study programme of a student has to include at least 30 ECTS of studies with a cross-border element. These studies may include student mobility (also virtual mobility in distance-education courses), jointly organized courses (including CBU compulsory courses), a jointly guided thesis and practical training or a science project abroad.
The mobility unit of the studies has to be at minimum 30 ECTS. This includes studies and activities abroad:
- CBU compulsory courses
- practical training or a science project
- 50 % of virtual mobility in distance-education courses
- 50 % of a jointly guided thesis, must include data collection across the border and supervision from both countries
NEW! Double degree option between University of Eastern Finland and St. Petersburg State Forest-Technical University
For the students who start their CBU FEE studies in autumn 2012, it is possible to start CBU FEE studies aiming at the double degree (at the end of the studies the student would get a degree certificate from UEF and from SPSFTU). This would require that the student is accepted by both universities and the personal study plan of the student is accepted by both universities (the study plan has to include at least 60 ECTS in both universities and the thesis has to be accepted in both universities and written in English).
