AIVI | IntroductionThe A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences (AIVI) was founded in 1989. Main tasks of the Institute are biomedical research, profile being on molecular medicine and postgraduate training. All Research groups in AIVI belong to Biocenter Kuopio (BCK), which is one of the six Finnish biocenters. BCK is an active member in the Biocenter Finland consortium. Strategy of A. I. Virtanen Institute is led by Director, Professor Ari Hinkkanen (Vice Director, Professor Olli Gröhn) and houses altogether 12 research groups organized into two departments:
