Group Leader

ALE NÄRVÄNEN, PhD

Ale Närvänen is a group leader of SPECT/CT Imaging Laboratory and Biomolecule Group. He is specialized in peptide/peptidomimeticsynthesis and the use of bioactive peptides, proteins, nanoparticles, viruses and stem cells in biomedical research. The main research interests are:

1. Peptides and pseudopeptides as specific modulators of prostate cancer specific proteases.
2. Cancer imaging with tumor specific antibodies and peptides.
3. Imaging of therapeutic viruses and stem cells.
4. Mesoporous nanoparticles in targeted drug delivery.
5. Serology and protein interaction studies with micro chips.

Ale Närvänen has 67 international publications (PubMed) and he has been supervisor for one theses, 16graduate theses and is supervisingfour post graduate students.His research group is a member ofBioCenter Kuopio (BCK) and he is a member of BCK board.He is a chairman of Finnish Peptide Society and the board of Kuopio Center of Healthcare Expertise.
