22.-27.2. Conference Religious freedom: Its conformation and violation during the 20th and 21st centuries, Joensuu
Aika ja paikka 22.–27.2., Itä-Suomen yliopisto, Joensuun kampus
Civil Liberties or personal freedoms are personal guarantees and freedoms that the government cannot abridge – either by law or by juridical interpretation. Our ancestors who fought for civil liberties called religious freedom “the first of our liberties” and the “most cherished” of all our freedoms.
Concerted efforts have been made to deny the right of free exercise to religious belief and expression. That’s why well-known scholars from Europe and North America will come together at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu, 22–24 February, 2018, to think about the core objective of religious freedom in West and East.
